Search engines and fresh content

One thing search engines seem to really like is new content. Take a look at any webmaster forum and you will see it again and again as part of good SEO techniques. The bottom line is that most of us rely on search engine traffic, so whether we like it or not, we have to, to some extent, keep them happy in order for our site to rank high for the keywords we want. So the question is, how do we give them new content?

Well, there are several ways we can do this. First, and probably the most obvious way, is to add to what’s already on our pages. Suppose you have a car site, broken down into individual pages on various car categories. You might have a page on modern sports cars, for example, so you can add a paragraph or two about the last car to roll out of the Aston Martin stables: the Rapide, Aston’s first four-door, four-seat sports car. Martin. With some data on how many of these cars will be produced, where, cost, etc., this adds new and updated content to your site.

On the other hand, of course, you may have a site that is all about sports cars. In that case, you could add a whole new page to discuss the Aston Martin Rapide, adding a lot more detail as you focus on that new model.

Either way, you’re keeping your site fresh and up to date, which works well with Google and the rest. How about adding a blog to your site? That way, new content is added almost daily, again keeping the content fresh. News is ideal for blogging.

If you’re good at writing articles, add them to your site (according to your site’s theme, of course). How about press releases, helpful tips, reader comments? These can all be part of developing and expanding your site and help it stand out from the billions of other sites on the Internet today.
