Are your brakes squeaking like a pig?

When you put the brakes on, do they squeal like a pig?

It is not the braking part of the pad that is making noise.

The high-pitched sound you hear is the metal part of the brake pads that is vibrating.

After the pads wear out, some will loosen and vibrate.

You can change them or change them yourself (yes you can, I’ll show you how sometime).

But sometimes aftermarket pickups just aren’t perfectly machined and don’t fit the calipers perfectly.

Sounds silly? Think how many times that rotor spins, even at 30 mph. The rotor is the shiny round disc against which the brake pads rub.

Have you ever heard a woodpecker when it is hunting an insect in a tree? ………….. I can’t even type that fast.

His fast and constant pecking sounds like a fired machine gun!

That’s roughly how fast, or faster, your metal plate hits the metal in the clamp eiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!

The caliper is the coconut-like metal thing that the brake pads fit into and connect to the rotor when you apply the brakes.

Now, don’t put grease on the pad next to the rotor to keep it calm … it will be calm, but it won’t stop! ? º

Personally, I don’t really like * spinning * rotors. That’s when the machine removes the metal to smooth it out.

If the rotor is too deformed, it must be renewed.

How will you know it is deformed?

When you put your foot on the brake petal and press to slow down or stop, does the petal go up and down * in one pulsating motion?

Yes? So the rotors are deformed and need to be turned. That, you cannot do; Unless you have a brake lathe!
