Step-by-step process to get a male Brazilian wax

One of the most important things to keep in mind when doing this treatment for the first time is to choose a salon that has a lot of experience in performing these treatments. The more experienced the therapist, the faster everything will be over, which is a good thing! We strongly suggest that you don’t try to do this yourself at home or have your inexperienced girlfriend (or boyfriend) do it. In the hands of an inexperienced person, this treatment is extremely painful and will take a long time. Get the professionals to do it.

Interested? But he’s not so sure what’s involved and what he should be aware of? Here is a step-by-step guide to waxing under boxers.

· Be clean. They say that cleanliness is next to godliness and that being freshly showered will be more enjoyable for you and your therapist.

· No moisturizer please. Do not add moisturizer to the area as the oil will reduce the effectiveness of the wax and you will get better results if your skin is less oily.

· Make sure there’s hair down there. Your hair should be at least 2 cm long (making it long enough to lay flat against your skin). Do not shave for about two weeks before your appointment to make sure your hair is long enough. Ideally, you should cut it if your hair is long. Your therapist will cut back if necessary, but it will speed things up if you do it before your appointment. If the hair is too long, then more of the hair is pulled as the wax is removed and it will hurt more.

· Be loose. If possible, wear loose clothing that day to avoid irritation in the post waxing phase.

· Relax. Understandably, the more relaxed you are, the less painful and more comfortable the entire waxing experience will be. You don’t have to worry about relaxing too much…it’s highly unlikely that you’ll get a boner, unless you’re a sadist! Also, now would be a good time to tell you that it’s not as bad as you think it’s going to be!

To the heart of the matter: what is going to happen?

· Take off all clothing from the lower half. You will be given a towel and possibly a paper thong. If your therapist wants you to wear the thong, then you must wear it. If the choice is up to you, we recommend that you leave it. The thong will only slow down the procedure, and during hair removal everything will be seen anyway. Fast is better!

· What style are you looking for? Your therapist will check the area and trim the hair if necessary. You will need to tell him what you are looking for, what areas you want to wax. For the full Brazilian, this typically involves along the veil line, across the pubic bone, shaft, scrotum, and between the cheeks and buttocks, but it’s totally up to you.

· The Waxed. Your therapist will start the waxing and guide you on how you should lie down and where you should place your legs etc. Depending on how your therapist has been trained, to do the area between the cheeks, you may be asked to bring your legs up to your chest and spread your cheeks apart or some therapists will have you lie on your stomach and spread your cheeks apart. It’s not elegant either way, but it’s all over in a few minutes.

If your therapist is very experienced, you will probably find that they will ask you a lot of questions about you and generally chat… this will distract you from the task at hand and before long it will all be over! A good therapist will take about 30 minutes to give a man a complete Brazilian. It can take up to an hour for the first one, as the therapist will go a bit slower for the first one. If he does it monthly or every six weeks at the most, then it will be much less painful as the root system of the hair hasn’t had a chance to establish itself and the hair will come out easily. You may find that it may bleed slightly at times, but that is not a cause for concern. Any blood stains are wiped away when the therapist wipes the area with an after-wax oil to remove any wax residue.

· final keys. Your therapist will usually give you a mirror to look at the result to make sure you are happy and also to check for any stray hairs. If some of the hairs were too short for the wax to pick up (hair grows in different growth cycles), the therapist may need to tweeze them. How much is done depends on how many short or ingrown hairs there are and also how much time there is to do the job. Most salons allow between 30 and 60 minutes per treatment, depending on the experience of both the therapist and the client. Salons generally charge more for the first treatment or if you haven’t done it for a while due to the time it takes.

· All finished. All ready. It is strongly recommended that you stay away from saunas and swimming pools for 24 hours after a wax treatment (any hair removal treatment) as your pores will be open and you could get an infection. We also recommend that you use an after-shave product to reduce the chance of skin rashes and ingrown hairs.
