The silent killer!

On the last day of school in 2015, with my daughter in grade 11, she decided for the first time to participate in the school’s ball dodge tournament. So she and five of her good friends got together and created a team. In fact, my son had mentioned it and told him not to bother, that his team would be “crushed” by none other than the massive 12th graders. Anyway, she went to school, ready to participate in the tournament. A few hours later he returned home. He couldn’t walk through the door fast enough with a priceless smile on his face, to share his excitement with me.

So apparently there were a lot of teams participating and the tournament was a lot of fun and very exciting, but the best part was that the final game was taken by his team, which consisted of 4 pretty little girls and 2 not so big boys. .against the ruling champions, the 12th graders, that his brother had warned him about. There were 6 guys on this team … who, according to my daughter, were all great hockey players. As the final game progressed, causing much shouting and cheering, the gymnasium began to fill more and more with spectators, students, and teachers. One by one, my daughter’s teammates were hit with the ball, all except her and one of the kids from the opposite team, so now there were only five 12th graders left and my daughter! My daughter, who suffered a lot from anxiety when she was younger, has never done it and still doesn’t like being the Center of Attention … she was definitely the Center of Attention here taking on a team of 5 12th graders. On the other hand, she’s an excellent, unassuming athlete, probably around 110 pounds soaked! However, he has always been very strong physically, especially with his upper body strength. You can throw a baseball from there quite accurately to any base with no problem, including home plate! Anyway, let’s go back to the story …

“So mom, at this point everyone is chanting my name and it’s very loud and people keep coming into the gym. I took out one of the 5 guys, more yelling and chanting and more people are coming to see what it’s all about. the noise. about. Then I took out another and another. ” So I asked her, were you really nervous or how were you feeling right now? “” I wasn’t nervous at all, I was so caught up in the moment with adrenaline and the idea that I had a job to do and all the cheering and chanting my name really helped, it was amazing, so many teachers were cheering me on! ‘Then he goes on to say’ then I took out another boy, the cheers got even louder. ‘ So it was me and one of the 12th graders who left. I couldn’t believe it mom, everything depended on me and a boy. The other guys on the team couldn’t believe it, they were shocked and they were the only ones cheering on the last player standing on their team. Then he finally hit me with the ball and it’s over! Even though I didn’t win, I feel like I did because it was me against 5 of them! ‘

The expression of pride and emotion on my little girl’s face was incredible, it speaks of a moment of totally proud mother. All he could think about was how he cried and walked away from crowds and noise or from being the center of attention for years. Here she tells me how exciting it was and how good it felt when everyone was cheering for her. She said that after the game everyone came up to her and told her how well she had done and that that game had been the best of all. Even walking down the hallways to go to her locker, the teachers cheered and praised her. ‘I wish you had been there to see it mom, it was so cool,’ she commented. I totally wished I had been there, but it wouldn’t have made me prouder if I had seen it. The emotion in her face and voice, the confidence in her body language and words was all he needed. My girl had come a long way!

Later that day, as we were returning from the grocery store, we drove through the school parking lot and noticed a truck slowly approaching with two people waving frantically. It turned out to be two of her gym teachers who had been to the gym and looked at her … they rolled down the windows of the truck and labeled her, ‘Silent Killer!’
