Home Trends 2020

Believe it or not, we are already halfway through 2020! Since my blog was not created at the beginning of the year, I would like to recap the trends that 2020 has given us so far.

EARTH TONES: One of my many favorites, earth tones mimic some of the more natural elements of wood and greenery. With more time spent at home (many working from home now), bringing the serenity and calm of the outdoors is a much appreciated feeling of the daily work environment our homes are becoming. Don’t be shy about adding different textures or colors, let yourself go on an adventure!

HIGH CONTRAST – Get out of your neutral zone and try adding some color to your home. Maybe you’ve always wanted to paint your dining room a beautiful bold purple or wanted to add some contrast with your wall art (hello, gallery wall)! Bring texture. Mix colors. Mix fabrics. The key here is to make sure you don’t overdo it. I can see myself getting carried away with a project like this; think balance.

BEDFRAMES WITH CANOPY: I remember when I was a child, all I wanted was a canopy bed. She wanted to throw fabric over the top and let it fall over the sides to create a sleeping area fit for a princess (which she really wanted to be when she grew up). I love that trends seem to rotate: they’re the biggest trend, they disappear, and then they come back better than ever; the canopy bed is no exception. Canopy beds can fit into any bedroom style (although the frame style isn’t for every room, keep that in mind when shopping). You can dress the canopy bed frame to be masculine or feminine, bare or covered in a flowy material (which you can change depending on your mood), and just give the feeling of a cozy, warm and happy place within the rooms. four walls of your room.

HOME OFFICE – For many of us, there is no way around this. We need a space to be productive, to be able to isolate ourselves from the sounds of the outside world and focus, whether it’s doing work, enjoying a book or going online for some retail therapy. The key to a functional home office is organization (don’t lose your keyboard under a sea of papers). Make your office (or your “you” space) a place where you can be productive, comfortable, and motivated.

WALLPAPER – It’s back and better than ever! The last issue with wallpaper has always been the fact that it’s pretty permanent, unless you’d love to tackle the task of removing it by hand (I remember my mom doing this, the smell of vinegar still gets me every time). Times have changed and wallpaper has become a semi-permanent solution. Hope for? How? Peel and stick wallpaper has become a staple in home decor, allowing you to change your style, your colors, your theme as many times as you like with ease (budget permitting, of course).

I hope the second half of the year is filled with good news, a vaccine, and some fun new fall trends to talk about!

Stay safe out there!
