Should you consider selling your iPad for a Galaxy Tab 2?

Nowadays it’s common to see people sell an old iPad and change their allegiance to another brand. Samsung is a brand that has been trying to enter the US market with various products in its portfolio. In effect, it has been trying to compete directly with Apple products. This compounds the friction between Apple and Samsung not only in court, where the two companies have been suing each other over copyright infringement cases. With the new iPad introduced earlier this year, it’s Samsung’s turn to introduce something new, and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 is its latest offering in its tablet range.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 is available in two models: the 7-inch and the 10.1-inch. If you’re short on cash but want to buy a new tablet, you can opt to get the 7-inch Wi-Fi model for around $250. The company has even run a promotion for students where you get a free keyboard dock. and an external USB peripheral connector accessory included with every drive purchase. Not only that, owners also receive 50GB of free Dropbox space for one year. These giveaways are available to entice iDevice owners to sell iPad and switch to the new Samsung product.

This nifty 7-inch device only comes with 8GB of internal storage. But the good news is that the microSD card cage on the side can accommodate an additional 64GB of space for your personal data. The dual-core processor running the tablet version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0, makes this device an even more tempting purchase. For now, Ice Cream Sandwich can match iOS 5, but when iOS 6 is released this fall, expect Apple to raise the bar on operating systems again. But then, the combination of Ice Cream Sandwich and the dual-core processor makes opening programs and accessing web pages fast and smooth. The screen resolution of 1024 x 600 is higher compared to its predecessor, which makes surfing the Internet and reading e-books more enjoyable.

On the downside, in terms of design, the iPad is still the best. Somehow, Samsung’s products, including this one, have yet to reach the level of sophistication that it has. Of course, customers always want the devices they own to reflect their level of taste. Not that the Galaxy Tab 2 looks cheap, but compared to the iPad, it still has a lot of catching up to do.

All in all, if you’re planning to sell your iPad for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, chances are you won’t regret your decision. With its small size, it is more convenient to carry anywhere compared to it. The excellent hardware specifications as well as the software will make the device very easy to use. Of course, the affordable price is one important thing that makes this tablet really affordable and can be enjoyed by everyone.
